On Saturday, February 12, 2022, in the province of Kayanza, in the commune of Matongo, more exactly at the hill of Ruganza, the Right Honorable Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe, Speaker of the National Assembly of Burundi, enhanced with his presence the community development works which consisted in the earthwork of a 15 hectare domain that will house the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Kayanza, ISPKA in acronym.

The Number Two of Burundi was accompanied by other high ranking personalities of the country, natives of the province including the Burundian Ombudsman, Honorable Edouard Nduwimana and the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Déo Guide Rurema. The administrators of all nine communes of province and a large crowd were also present.

As it was happening in all provinces of the country, before the kickoff this activity, the population started the day with a march-demonstration whose objective was to congratulate the government of Burundi following its successful diplomatic efforts to gain confidence in the concert of nations. The most recent testimony was the lifting of the economic sanctions imposed on Burundi by the European Union.

During the messages conveyed by various authorities, the leitmotiv was the initiative of the Speaker of the Lower House of the Burundian Parliament who was the first to propose this project to build this university of excellence to which all the natives of the province of Kayanza have adhered. The Minister Déo Guide Rurema immediately informed that the title of ownership of the domain is already available. He added that anyone who has given up his property will benefit from another piece of land in the same proportions.

The ISPKA will be a university of excellence that will host the most talented students, said the Rt. Hon. Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe, who automatically excluded students whose grade is below 50%. The establishment of ISPKA, he added, will transform the town of Ruganza into a large city, with its corollary of large buildings, without forgetting an exemplary villagization.

To join the word to the act, he granted a deadline of two weeks for the preparation of a model that will allow the effective start of construction work. He did not forget to praise the government of Burundi for the dignity and the confidence recently recovered on the international scene. Finally, he thanked the crowd that responded to the activity before inviting the residents of the commune of Matongo and all the natives of the province of Kayanza in general to get involved in community development work.

At the end of that work, he visited the federation of Sangwe cooperatives located in the commune of Kayanza, more precisely on the hill of Kinga which has initiated a project to improve the quality of life of the population by setting a leading project for modern breeding of chickens, pigs and other livestock. He encouraged the members of that federation including the experts who are involved while exchanging ideas and advised them to achieve the goal of popularizing their technique throughout the country.
